Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically record standard technical details about the visit:

It provides general directions to DeKalb County custodians, including the Sheriff, criminal court clerks, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes found on some pages. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this one. Each partner chooses its own retention and disclosure practices, which are outside our control. Read those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the DeKalb County Sheriff, court portals, Georgia agencies, legal-aid resources, or third-party tools. Once a visitor follows an outside link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through their systems rather than ours.

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

We use customary safeguards for information in our care. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.

Georgia criminal-history access and dissemination are separately governed by O.C.G.A. §§ 35-3-34 and 35-3-35, while public agency records are governed by the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77.
